The “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event is a playful opportunity for men to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects, and remediations to domestic violence and sexual assault. InterWest Practice Groups joined together to offer support to complete Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento’s first veterans home repair project in Elk Grove. After several months of work, Elk Grove veteran Santiago Bonilla was given the keys to his “new” home on Saturday, January 21st.

Congratulations to Tony Pozas, Matt Bauer, Steve Carmassi and Brian Seamans who represented InterWest in the 2016 Chubb Charity Challenge golf tournament and raised $10,000 for St. Jude Research Hospital.
The Chubb Charity Challenge brings together insurance brokers and clients throughout the US and Canada to raise money for charity. Since 2000, this series of tournaments has raised nearly $13M for deserving charities.
Most real heroes are not people of great renown. They live near us and rarely ask for help. Santiago Bonilla, a 74 year old disabled Vietnam veteran is a hero. Exposed to Agent Orange while serving his country, he uses a walker and will soon lose his legs due to severe diabetes associated with his exposure. InterWest’s broker foursome of Tony Pozas, Matt Bauer, Mark Blofsky and Mike Taylor successfully participated in the 2016 Chubb Charity Challenge golf tournament at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina and raised $9,000 for Wounded Warrior Project. Chubb brings together insurance agents, brokers and customers nationwide and Canada each year to raise money for charity. Since its creation in 2000, their Charity Challenge tournaments have raised over $13 million for charity.

On September 21st, a team of InterWest colleagues joined volunteers from Tilton Pacific Construction at a meal packaging event hosted by Tilton and organized by Stop Hunger Now, a global humanitarian aid organization. 21 balloon toting, banner carrying, sign waving InterWest Gentlemen were among the more than 1,100 high-heel clad men who walked a mile in high heels on Sunday to raise funds for WEAVE. A heartfelt thank you to the slew of family and friends who came out to support our team and to all of you who helped raise $2,840.00. A very special thank you to the committee members whose contributions were integral to the success of this event.

Six teams from InterWest partied with a purpose at the 28th annual fundraiser on Friday, October 17th at Country Club Lanes. With the help of many supporters, InterWest took home the top fundraiser award and was able to donate more than $12,000 to help prepare our next generation for success! All proceeds from this event benefit Junior Achievement’s workforce readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship programs in local K-12 schools. http://www.jasac.org/
