Alex Miller, OHST, Safety Services Manager for InterWest Insurance Services has over 17 years of experience working with all facets of the construction industry. From backyard pool contractors to multi million dollar heavy construction operations, numerous organizations have benefited from his knowledge and experience.

Alex began his safety career in 1992 as a Safety Specialist at Teichert, Inc., and during his tenure was ultimately responsible for overseeing the safety services for five construction divisions with revenues of over $500 million; two precast concrete construction divisions, an on-and off-road fleet with over 1,000 pieces of equipment and nine surface sand and gravel mining operations covering Northern California. As the Safety Division grew, so did the need for safety services and Alex was called upon to train, develop, and manage a staff of eight safety professionals.

Adding to this experience, Alex holds a Certificate in Safety Management from the American Society of Safety Engineers, earned the professional designation of Occupational Safety and Health Technician (OHST) and has a degree in Occupational Safety and Health. He is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, has served on the Cal- PASC Risk Management Committ ee for Northern California and is certified by OSHA to instruct the 10 and 30 hour Outreach courses. He also works with Asphalt Surface Development Association and serves on their Risk Control Committee.

Alex joined InterWest Insurance Services in 2004 in an effort to help a broader range of organizations and to focus on the satisfaction he derives from assisting people in developing their safety efforts. He currently works with organizations’ ownership, CEOs, CFOs, and Safety Directors to help them cultivate their personnel and programs, all in an effort to minimize or eliminate exposures.
