Michele Carter, CIC, CRM, CISR

Commercial Insurance Broker

Michele Carter began her insurance career as an Account Manager for an independent broker in Tulare, California. The agency’s primary focuses were the agriculture industry in the Central Valley and serving the insurance needs for the unified school district.

In 1991, Michele joined InterWest Insurance Services in Redding, California and relocated to their Chico office in 1994. While she works with a wide variety of industries, her special interests are social & human services organizations and health care providers.  Michele has a clear understanding of the challenges they face from funding, regulatory and oversight standpoints.

With over 20 years of experience in risk management and insurance consultation, Michele works diligently on behalf of her clients to stay abreast of the complex changes in exposure and protection requirements, available coverages as well as the insurance underwriters with which she partners.  She’s not only familiar with standard programs, but experienced in working with alternative risk transfer programs as well.

Michele’s primary objective is to protect her clients’ organization, employees, directors and those they serve.  She understands they are the lifeblood of their communities and works tirelessly and effectively representing their interests.

Michele earned the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Risk Manager (CRM) and Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) professional designations and is working toward a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) certification.

Giving back to the communities in which she lives & works is one of Michele’s personal passions. She volunteers with local charities and non-profit organizations. She serves on the Board of Directors as President of Youth for Change, a local non-profit, is a member of Soroptimist International of Chico, Chico Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Chico Alumni, UC Cooperative Extension, Davis & Butte County Master Gardeners.

Michele enjoys spending time with her husband, son and daughter at home and at their cabin in the mountains. They enjoy snowmobiling, golfing, scuba diving, gardening and vacationing on any nice beach.
