Carolene Drury was born and raised in rural Tulare County. She received her education at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Biola University in La Mirada, and Capernwray Hall in Lancashire, England.
Following their marriage, Carolene and her husband spent ten years as administrators of a camp and conference center in the Yosemite area where their children were born. The family moved to Merced in 1983. Carolene joined The Insurance Center of Merced, a predecessor organization to InterWest Insurance Services, the following year and earned her insurance license and appointment as an Aetna Prime Agent.
She is a two-time past-president of United Way, an associate member of the Merced County Association of Realtors serving on the Consumer Protection Committee, an active member of Soroptimist International, a member of Friends of UC Merced, and a volunteer of her church where she works with the college age group.
