Recent Updates

In March 2010, President Obama signed into law the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The wide spread changes made by ACA take effect over a period of years. Some of the law’s changes are already in effect, such as the prohibition on pre-existing condition exclusions for individuals under age 19.

Other changes will become effective in the future. For example, the requirement that large employers provide a certain level of health coverage to full-time employees and their dependents or pay a penalty goes into effect in 2015 (this area of the law was set to go into effect on 1/1/2014 before it was delayed by the IRS on 7/9/2013).

As the law continues to be implemented over the next several years it will be important for employers to stay current on the changes that will ultimately affect them and their employees. InterWest Insurance Services, Inc. has a number of resources to aid in this process, please contact your Broker or Account Manager with any questions.
